Building a Better Clydesdale – Together
At the heart of the Clydesdale Village Association (CVA) is a commitment to preserving the character of our neighbourhood while actively shaping a safe, inclusive, and sustainable future. Through strong partnerships with the City of Tshwane and the dedication of local residents, we’ve made significant progress on several key initiatives that directly support the well-being and long-term vision of our community.
From securing formal approval of the Clydesdale Precinct Plan, to advancing our Monitored Access Programme, and launching a collaborative Community Upliftment Programme, we are creating a neighbourhood that reflects the values we share—safety, heritage, vibrancy, and care for our public spaces.
Below is a summary of these transformative projects and how you can be part of them.
Clydesdale Village Precinct Plan
In early 2025, the Clydesdale Precinct Plan was officially approved by the City of Tshwane—a major milestone for our community. This plan lays out a shared vision for sustainable urban development, heritage preservation, and neighbourhood safety while enhancing the walkability, greening, and cultural vibrancy of Clydesdale. The plan reflects years of collaborative input from residents, businesses, and urban planning experts. It establishes clear guidelines for land use, architectural character, traffic flow, and green public spaces—ensuring that growth in our precinct aligns with the values and charm of our village.
We’re excited to move from planning to implementation, and welcome everyone’s participation as we bring this vision to life.
Monitored Access Initiative
The Clydesdale Precinct Safety and Security initiative is currently in Phase 1 of implementation. This initiative is designed to enhance public safety and traffic management through controlled vehicle access points and improved surveillance infrastructure—while preserving full public accessibility and compliance with city regulations.
We are now awaiting final approval from the City of Tshwane before full rollout can begin. Once approved, the programme will allow for a safer, more secure environment, particularly during peak times and special events.
Community Upliftment Precinct (CUP)
Aligned with Tshwane’s Community Upliftment Precinct (CUP) initiative, the Clydesdale Community Upliftment Programme empowers residents to take an active role in maintaining, beautifying, and enhancing our shared public spaces.
With support from the City and formal agreement through the CUP framework, our programme will focus on:
-
Maintaining sidewalks, curbs, and small infrastructure
-
Planting trees, community gardens, and flowers
-
Organising clean-up days and public space upgrades
-
Supporting safety initiatives like better lighting and visibility
This programme strengthens civic pride, supports job creation, and contributes to a safer, greener, and more connected Clydesdale.
